Lyle Wells

Lyle Anthony Wells, 66, formerly of Moline, died of lung and bone cancer Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at the VA hospital in Little Rock, Ark.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, at the home of his mother in Greers Ferry, Ark. Memorials may be made to the Greers Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Fund at 892 Shiloh Road, Greers Ferry, AR 72067. Condolences can be sent to his mother.

Lyle was born Sept. 25, 1949, in Thief River Falls, Minn., the third child of Charlie and Delna Wells. He was a heavy machine operator, worked construction and was an all around handy man. All who knew Lyle knew that he was always there to help. Lyle enjoyed hunting and fishing. As an avid golfer, Lyle had a hole-in-one at the Tannenbaum golf course. His last 14 years were spent helping his mother with her gardens, flowers and making their home beautiful. He also loved going to auctions, where he was called the "Clock Man" because of his knowledge and ability to fix them. Lyle lived his whole life like a champion. He fought to the end and never gave up hope that he would win the battle. He will be missed, but we are all better for knowing him.

Lyle is survived by his daughter, Sarah Wells, Fort Meyers, Fla.; mother, Delna Wells, Greers Ferry; brothers Keith (Judy) Wells, Kissimmee, Fla., Dale (Robin) Wells, Illinois City; sister, Winonna Wells, Greers Ferry; sister-in-law, Linda (Jeff) Barnes, Rock Island; and two grandchildren T'Onyai and Mieahna. Lyle was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Wells, and brother, Barry Wells.
